Sedation Dentistry in Chester, VA

Dental sedation helps make dental care more comfortable by reducing anxiety and minimizing discomfort during treatment. At Chester Road Family Dental, sedation options are designed to help patients feel calm and at ease while receiving the care they need. We offer nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, as well as oral conscious sedation. Nitrous oxide is administered through a small mask and provides gentle relaxation during your visit, while oral sedation involves taking a prescribed pill before treatment to promote deeper relaxation without putting you to sleep.

If dental anxiety has ever kept you from scheduling care, Chester Road Family Dental is here to help. Our experienced team takes the time to understand your concerns and recommend the right sedation option for your needs. With safe, effective sedation choices and a compassionate approach, we make it easier to get the dental treatment you deserve. Contact our office today to learn more or schedule your visit.

  • What types of dental sedation does Chester Road Family Dental offer?

Chester Road Family Dental offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral conscious sedation to help patients stay calm and comfortable during dental procedures. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask and provides mild relaxation, while oral sedation involves taking a prescribed pill before your appointment to promote deeper relaxation without putting you to sleep.

  • What is laughing gas, and what does it do?

Laughing gas, also called nitrous oxide, is a safe, mild form of dental sedation used to help patients feel calm and relaxed during treatment. It’s inhaled through a small mask and works quickly to ease anxiety and discomfort. You remain awake and responsive throughout your visit, and the effects wear off shortly after the gas is turned off.

  • What should I expect with oral conscious sedation?

Oral conscious sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your dental appointment to help you feel calm and deeply relaxed. You’ll remain awake but may feel drowsy and remember little of the procedure. Because the effects can last for several hours, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from your appointment and plan to rest afterward.
